Effortless barristers accounting with our new MTD (Making Tax Digital) Service
At BarTax, we recognise that most barristers have neither the time nor the inclination to complete time consuming bookkeeping at the end of a busy day, even if provided with free bookkeeping software or templates.
Our approach is refreshingly simple. ReceiptBank is a quick and convenient App that collects and stores your business expenses and receipts. Simply take a photo of the receipt using your phone, tablet or PC. The App will capture and store an image of your receipt and forward a copy directly to us. Receipt Bank software pulls information from receipts quickly, accurately and efficiently. There is no duplication or loss as all data is saved securely to the cloud.
Receipt Bank is free for all our clients. Most of our barrister clients have transitioned to this intelligent way of working. Submit your expenses on the go and start to enjoy the benefits of stress free and HMRC approved data capture.
Our paper based procedure
For barristers who prefer the traditional hard copy method of submitting expenses, we are happy to provide an alternative option. Of course, we’ve still kept it hassle free for you, with not a spreadsheet nor bookkeeping software in sight.
- Collect together your paperwork
- Put it in an envelope
- Post periodically to BarTax using the labels provided
Once we’ve received your envelope, we will acknowledge receipt and where possible, produce interim accounts. If you’ve forgotten to include something we need, we’ll let you know quickly. And with your permission, we can establish contact with your Clerks, enabling us to request your paperwork via them.
Most barristers forward their VAT returns and paperwork for completion on a quarterly basis, ensuring paperwork is dealt with periodically and reducing the strains and stress of Year End.
We will then provide a quarterly statement of accounts and also estimate future tax payments, if required. You will have the ongoing reassurance that your accounts are on track and up to date.
Additional costs will be incurred for barristers opting to use this paper based procedure. Should you wish to explore this option, please let us know and we can determine costings and prepare an individualised quote for you.
Cloud based accounting solutions
Our flexible approach means that we can accommodate a broad range of cloud based accounting solutions. So whether you are currently using Xero, or any other online accounting software, we can set up and run your existing system without any unnecessary disruption to you.
